A look at Americans' interaction with nature including: 1) nature as sustaining source of food; 2) nature as wilderness refuge; 3) nature as home; and 4) nature without us. Using various texts and films students will think and write about nature's continuing influence on American life in an increasingly urbanized global society. Employs methodology from both history and ecology.
