Rosa Dargan-Powers

Rosa Dargan-Powers believes that creating art is vital to a holistic education. Unlike most learning modalities, making art facilitates multisensory learning experiences and engages the whole person. People learn through their senses and feelings as well as their reason. Creating art gives form to thoughts, feelings and the imagination, fosters critical thinking and is essential to becoming fully human. Students in Rosa's classes use the creative experience to make connections to their outer world and within themselves. Her classrooms are active learning environments where students are engaged in discussions, group presentations, art- making, collaboration, group interaction initiatives and community service. Rosa is a studio artist and an adjunct instructor in ASU's Department of Art.

She is involved as an organizer and participant in many community art events. Besides teaching and art-making, Rosa enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, traveling, gardening, bee keeping, singing and community service
