Raymond Christian

Ray Christian is the father of six and a decorated combat veteran and retired Army paratrooper.  Ray has degrees in Public History and Education, and holds a doctorate in Education: Leadership from Liberty University.  His research interests include African-American history, the achievement gap, and Risk and Resilience theory.  When he is not teaching, his hobbies include fishing, hiking, scuba diving, raising chickens, and tending a garden.  His major passion and pastime is storytelling.  His is a national storyteller whose stories have been heard on NPR and the live stage in New York City and across North Carolina, with The Moth, RISK and The Monti storytelling shows.  He has a passion for students and utilizes the power of storytelling and personal narrative to teach complicated social concepts.
