This course examines the role of political humor in today’s society. Through analysis of political cartoons, television shows, movies, speeches that use humor, comedy routines, email jokes, and other forms of political humor, students investigate the impact that humor has on political discourse and interpretation of meaning. Attention is given to cultural differences in the encoding and decoding of political humor.
