Clark, Jonelle

Jonelle comes to Appalachian State from NE Ohio, where she was a full-time Visiting Instructor in the Curricular and Instructional Studies Department in the College of Education for two years. She earned her undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004 in Secondary English Education and an extended certificate in Middle Level education in 2005-- Go Colonels! After five years of classroom experience (and a move to Indiana) Jonelle earned her Masters degree in Gifted and Talented Education from Purdue University in 2010—Boiler Up!

“I believe that all students are capable of success and growth in education when they are allowed to pursue their individual passions. I believe in student choice. I believe in clear and transparent assignments and scoring rubrics. I believe that education is priceless and investment in an education can move mountains and change generational projections. I LOVE teaching college students and wouldn’t want to do anything else in the world. I have truly found my career passion.”

When Jonelle is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, skiing, coaching, and traveling. The Clarks are big sports fans and love their App State football—GO APP! Jonelle and her husband Shawn have two children, Giana and Braxton.
