This course will engage students in an interdisciplinary study of how endurance sport has played a role in the context of society. Students will read and discuss historical ramifications, shifting norms in endurance sport, and how physical and psychological wellness affect the endurance sport community. Students will reflect on examples of great achievements in endurance sport through magazine articles, movies, and through the summer reading book "Born to Run." The class will also promote self-exploration in sport through a class research project focusing on ASU recreational endurance sport athletes.
