In the last century and a half, innovations in visual and audio technologies have allowed people to represent reality in new and exciting ways. This course will look at the use of photography, radio, and film to document the world and affect social change. From the earliest photographs to the modern phenomena of reality television and Youtube, we will investigate the impact of documentary media on our own lives and on society as a whole. Our work will also involve producing media of our own in all three forms, creating a photographic essay, a radio documentary and a short film documentary.
