The two subjects you are not supposed to talk about at Thanksgiving: politics and religion. These are difficult subjects to discuss because they run deep into our cultural identities, worldviews, and value systems. Tempers flare and emotions run high. Therefore, having a civilized and productive discussion on these issues is often challenging. How can we learn to critically evaluate our own views and understand the assumption and logic of our thinking? How can we engage in intelligent, fruitful discourse with those who think differently than us? How can we learn to effectively contribute to the political and religious discourse of our own culture?  This course will explore these difficulty subjects.
