This course looks at the arts from an integrative, holistic and experiential approach. The emphasis in on the creative process more than the finished product: as we learn to support a wide range of approaches and individual differences. It is open to all freshmen students considering a major in any of the arts. Through movement, metaphor, the visual and performing arts, we examine art as a mode of significant cultural expression, encompassing both social issues and moral responsibilities. We will also explore some practical aspects of college including the use of both library and human resources on campus, managing time, and exploring opportunities for the future. The course offers students a laboratory for understanding the arts, the world, and themselves.

Note: Priority enrollment is given to residents of the Art Haus residential learning community.
